<p>Twitter is the most accessible form of communication on the Web.  You get instant access to news and it is a great tool to reach and connect with your customers.  You may also use Twitter to share ideas and brainstorm and get support from customer service or give support via Twitter to your customers.  The list of possibilities is endless with Twitter and it is also <strong>an effective, cost-free or low-cost solution for marketing your business.</strong></p>
<p>What should you tweet about?</p>

<p>The first step is asking yourself  what goal you want to achieve by using social media?  How <strong><em>much time do you have to devote</em></strong> to it and who is going to help you?  Ask yourself where your target audience is hanging out. There&#8217;s hundred of social media out there that are niche specific.  So you really need to research first and create a plan.</p>
<p>The first step for a business is to have a blog and use that platform to start building a body that is keyword rich to start attracting organic search results.  Use that blog has the HUB of communication with all the people that you have connected with on social media to drive them back home to your blog.</p>
<p>The tool that brings the largest return will depend on what your goals are.  It is essential to have a blog first to attract people and then research to find your potential client base and where they hang out to be part of their conversations.</p>
<p><strong>LinkedIn</strong> is essential to be found by other professionals.</p>
<p><strong>Facebook</strong> is useful to find contacts.  There&#8217;s 200 million people on Facebook and it is growing so fast that the statistics show that it should get to 500 million by 2011.  Facebook is where people are and you have to learn to use it.</p>
<p><strong>Twitter</strong> is one of the fastest growing social media so it&#8217;s a good thing to have a Twitter account to create more visibility for your business.  Twitter is instant communication with a global audience.  You can poll people to share their expertise, knowledge and resources when you are looking for information.  You will meet people that you wouldn&#8217;t have had the opportunity to make appointments, meetings or time to talk with them on the phone.</p>
<p>Video is becoming very important and <strong>Youtube</strong> is considered to be the 2nd largest search engine now.  66% of the US, ages of 35-55 search Youtube, watching up to four hours a month and this is only one social media site.</p>
